1961 TRIUMPH TR4

Written by Lee King

Back in college, everyone loved MGB’s and Triumphs. Although reliability was extremely spotty, they were easy to work on and looked really cool. There was nothing like cruising around town in a convertible during the first days of spring. Petrolicious has one of the nicest examples of these beautiful cars that I’ve seen in a while. This 1961 Triumph TR4 ($40,000) located in New York, NY was found by its current owner in a Kentucky tobacco barn. The car covered in dirt and rusting away had sat dormant for 40 years. Danny Morton from Sterling British Motoring Society in Kentucky took on the five-year task of restoring the vehicle. It features a deep black paint job, black wire wheels, and a custom red leather interior. The original bumpers were removed for a clean minimalist look. The engine is a 2138cc inline four cylinder paired with a four-speed manual tranny with 86,086 shown in the odometer. A great find for anyone feeling a little nostalgic.
