2006 FORD GT HERITAGE EDITION

Written by Lee King

The GT40 was originally created by Henry Ford to seek revenge against Enzo Ferrari for killing a business deal. The idea was to hit him where it hurt most; on the race track. The result was the Ford GT40. Its goal; defeat Ferrari at the 24 Hours Le Mans. The GT40 stunned the field by defeating Ferrari and winning the race each year through 1969.
To celebrate Ford’s 100th anniversary, it revived the legendary supercar by creating a line of concepts, that first of which were delivered to their owners in late 2004 & 2005. The 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition ($278000 – $347000) is one of only 343 to have the Heritage badge. Additional features include BBS wheels, painted brake callipers, McIntosh stereo system, and a 550 horsepower, 5.4-liter, 32-valve DOHC V-8 engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
The 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition will be auctioned on May 10th, 2014.
