From design to build to performance, the Audeze LCD-3 Planar Headphones ($1945) are the epitome of audiophile sound. They feature a Planar magnetic speaker technology that replaces standard drivers that have a cone attached to a voice coil. The planar diaphragm is a printed circuit spread across a thin film substrate. This design creates a fast moving diaphragm that produces greater accuracy, a wider frequency response, and lower distortion than standard speakers. The LCD-3 provide a completely enveloping sound with powerful bass, a beautiful midrange and extended highs. The ear cups are made from hand-selected Zebrano wood that have ear pads made from premium lambskin or a leather-free microsuede.
