CHEVY COLORADO ZR2 CONCEPT

CHEVY COLORADO ZR2 CONCEPT

Written by Lee King

Right now the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Concept ($TBA) is just that, a concept. But it looks like Chevy has every intention of adding the trim package to a later lineup. The ZR2 is looking to fill a void in the current American market, for a smaller, efficient pickup, that can hit the trails with the best of the big boys. The ZR2 has previously been slapped on the S10 pickup and the Tracker, to little fanfare. But it looks like they got it right this time around.
The Colorado’s stock bumpers, rubber air-dam flaps and side steps, have been replaced with a front end that allows an approach angle of up to 30-degrees. The new rear bumper allows a departure angle of 23-degrees. Lift has been increased by 2-inches with long-travel coilover shocks and the track increased by 4 inches to keep you on all fours. Additional features include 18-inch wheels with extra knobby Goody Wranglers, skid plates, electronically locking front and rear differentials, and a 48-inch lift jack.
Power is provided by a 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel four-cylinder that puts out 181 horses, but a fat 369 lb-ft of torque at 2000 rpm. Here’s hoping with see this trim some time soon.
