LEAP MOTION

Written by Lee King

Will Leap Motions’ 3-D Gesture Control Device ($80) be a mouse killer? Only time will tell. The Leap is a small device that sits in front of your computer screen, plugs directly into your USB port and calibrates with a single step. The leap allows you to do a wide range of computing tasks like navigating your OS or browsing the internet, to creating and manipulating 3-d models. What’s cool about the Leap Motion is that it allows you to fine-tune sensitivity, create your own custom gestures an string multiple Leaps together to create a larger interaction space. If it can handle document editing and standard mouse gestures accurately, such as selecting sections of text and right and left clicks, Leap my just turn out to be the king of the hill. Check out this [video_lightbox_youtube video_id=mQkKyOOyLSs width=640 height=480 anchor=video] of the Leap in action.
