Moment Anamorphic Lens

We’ve all been waiting for Moment to jump on the mobile anamorphic lens bandwagon and they’ve finally done it. Moment has just started their Kickstarter campaign for their filmmaker’s collection. They’re offering an iPhone battery case, a gimbal counterweight, a filter mount, and the star of the show a Moment Anamorphic Lens ($119). They’re offering a number of rewards, but as of today, you can get on the second batch of lenses for 20% off of retail. By comparison, the other popular anamorphic lens out is by Moon Dog Labs and it retails for $175.

If you’re not familiar with anamorphic lenses, basically they give you the look of a movie shot in 2:40:1 Cinemascope. It’ll pretty much make any video you shoot look pretty cool. Keep in mind there is some post work involved. The anamorphic lens squeezes your video so when you get it into post (Final Cut Pro, etc) it’ll need to be de-squeezed. A great mobile app for doing this is Filmic Pro. In the future Moment will be releasing their own app. You’ve got 20 days to go before retail prices kick in.
