SONY XPERIA Z ULTRA
OK, I put this Smartphone in the ‘Cell Phones’ category, but I was real tempted to throw it in with the tablets. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra ($TBA) is Sony’s larget handset to date with a display size of 6.44 inches. To put that in perspective the iPad mini has a 7.9 inch display and the iPhone 5 has a 4 inch display. I like to think of it as a tablet with cell phone capabilities.
Anyway outside of its size the Xperia Z Ultra has a lot of other things going for it. The enclosure has a metallic frame, tempered glass on the front and rear and is real thin at only .26 inches. It has an 8-megapixel camera and is IP58 durability rated, which means if you want to take some underwater shots, knock yourself out, the Z Ultra can handle it. It has a 2.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core on the inside and will come loaded with the latest version of Jelly Bean.
The Ultra is expected to drop some time in the third quarter and will come in black, white, and purple. In the mean time check out this [video_lightbox_youtube video_id=h45uTBGftkQ#at width=640 height=480 anchor=video]
