STUDY OF PERSPECTIVE – THE WHITE HOUSE 2017 SKATE DECKS
Looking for some skate decks that make a statement, then take a look at the art project called the Study of Perspective – The White House 2017 Skate Decks ($666) by artist Ai Weiwei. The White House skate decks are part of a larger body of work by Ai Weiwei that seeks to combine activism and art as an overt critical response to the current political climate in the United States.
The complete project is a series of images shot between 1995 and 2003 which shows Ai flipping the middle finger to buildings across the globe. These buildings are either landmarks or symbols of authority.
Ai will be using the monies from the project to support a number of NGO’s. These include the B’Tselem organization which promotes human rights in Israel and Occupied Territories as well as Halklarin koprusu a non-profit charity based in Turkey.
