TESLA MODEL S DUAL MOTOR P85D

Written by Lee King

Tesla has just announced they’ll be releasing the New Tesla Model S Dual Motor P85D ($121). The new S models will feature a motor on each axle, that independently controls torque to the front and rear wheels. You end up with unparalleled traction control, while the instantaneous response of the motors gives you controlled performance in any condition. Tesla says the, “Dual Motor Model S has the most capable road holding and handling of any vehicle ever produced”. It also has the best performance beating all gasoline cars in its class. And they backed this up by beating the Mclaren F1’s 0 to 60 mph time when the P85D marked a 3.2 second 0 to 60 mph split.
But that’s not all, the new model also comes with all the hardware needed for autopilot functionality. The package includes, forward radar, 12 long range ultrasonic sensors, a forward looking, and a high precision, digitally controlled electric assist braking system. In the near future they foresee the Model S being able to steer to keep you in your lane, change lanes with a tap of the turn signal, braking and steering to avoid collisions, and manage speed by reading road signs. For autonomous control is still a long way off but the Model S should be upgradable when the firmware comes out.
