Soon To Be Released Canon EOS M50 Has 4K Video
Canon is updating their compact M Series line with the release of the 4K capable Canon EOS M50 ($780). The M50 is expected to drop sometime in April and will come with some pretty impressive specs. But also, as with all cameras, some compromises. Let’s start with some of its best features. The M50 has an APS-C CMOS Sensor (22.3 x 14.9mm) that has a nice 24.1 Megapixels. The autofocus system is Canon’s renowned dual pixel AF system. It can shoot 4k UHD video at 24fps and 1080p at 120fps, which is great for getting those slow-mo b-roll shots. All video is shot in MP4. As with most canons, it doesn’t come with in-body stabilization. The one major issue with this camera is that 4K is cropped. APS-C Sensor is already going to crop your image by 1.6. The additional crop on the 4k images brings the overall crop to almost 2. Besides this one drawback, the M50 looks to be a great compact shooter at a great price.
