Diner

Written by Lee King

Diner ($4), written and directed by Barry Levinson is the classic coming of age story where you get to see great talents in the early stages of their careers. Diner stars Steve Guttenberg, Mickey Rourke, Tim Daly, Ellen Barkin, Paul Reiser, and Kevin Bacon. It takes place in 1959 and follows a group of friends who are struggling with their impending passage from childhood into adulthood, like Boogie (Mickey Rourke) who works in a beauty salon and studies to be a lawyer at night. Diner is a great dialogue driven movie. One of the best scenes is when Eddie (Steve Guttenberg) makes his wife take a football test before they can get married. Check it out the scene after the break.
