DISTRICT 9
They live among us! Directed by Neill Blomkamp, and starring Sharlto Copley, David James, and Jason Koepp, District 9 ($8) depicts an extraterrestrial race that’s forced to live in a slum called District 9 after their space ship visits earth and can’t leave. They live in terrible conditions and will soon be evicted from their homes and relocated to a camp far away from humans. That is, until they are helped out by Wikus (Sharlto Copley) from the government who when exposed to the race’s biotechnology starts to change into a creature himself. With a great blend of sci-fi, thriller, and action movie, District 9 is also a great story of redemption and offers some very cool alien weapons and special effects.
