ICELAND CLIFFSIDE RETREAT
Visualizing Architecture was started in 2009 so that Alex Hogrefe could easily share his work on his thesis with his professors. It soon turned into a place for him to upload all of his thoughts, work, and experiments whether it applied to his thesis or not. His latest work shows how exceptional he is at his craft.
When Alex first conceptualized The Iceland Cliff Retreat ($CONCEPT), he wanted the architecture to be secondary and composed largely around the surrounding terrain. To meet this requirement, his chose a location on the west coast of Iceland, which features large steep cliffs coming out of the water.
Alex created a series of posts which take you through his initial thoughts all the way to the final interior and exterior renderings. If you have any interest in how architects work in our modern times, then you owe it to yourself to put some time aside and immerse yourself in Visualizing Architecture.
