JB-9 JETPACK
Well someone has finally gone and done it and created a fully operational jetpack. Last week Jetpack Aviation unveiled it’s JB-9 Jetpack ($TBA). If you were in New York at the time, you could have seen David Mayman lift off from a boat and fly around the statue of liberty.
The JB-9 runs off of kerosene and can carry about 10 gallons of fuel. According to David this will give you about 10 minutes of flight. Additional specs include a maximum altitude of 10,000 feet, and a top speed of 100 miles per hour.
The JB-9 is small enough to fit in the backseat of your car so you could, in theory, take it anywhere. The current jetpack is the first one they fill meets most consumer requirements. Future updates will include auto stability systems, longer flight times, and a rapid deployment parachute system. Now it’ll be interesting to see, which goes into mass use first, a flying car or a jetpack.
