MEAT EATER
“Revelatory . . . With every chapter, you get a history lesson, a hunting lesson, a nature lesson and a cooking lesson. . . .Meat Eater offers an overabundance to savor.” – The New York Times Book Review
Meat Eater ($20) is about Steven Rinella, he spent his childhood in Twin Lake, Michigan. He was a hunters son who taught his 3 boys to love the natural world in the same way as he did. When he was a kid Rinella devoured all stories of the American wilderness, especially those exploits of his ultimate hero Daniel Boone. He started fishing when he was only 3 and shot his first squirrel when only 8 and his first deer when 13. His college was decided by its proximity to a good hunting ground and he has also experimented in how you can live just on wild meat. He is now an adult and uses his hunting skills to bring home the meat which feeds his family. A look at a life so different from our digital frenzy it is difficult to believe at times we are on the same planet never mind in the same country.
