DO THE RIGHT THING
In 1989, Spike Lee came out with Do The Right Thing ($8) starring Danny Aiello, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, John Turturro and Spike Lee as Mookie. It’s a perfect example of what happens when you take the hottest day in the year in Brooklyn, in the Bedford Stuyvesant section, and mix it into the heated tempers and the bigotries that are faced every day. Do the Right Thing is a dramatic representation of what happens when bigotry and hate goes too far and erupts into violence. This is one of Spike’s best movies and still worthy of a look due to its message and cinematography.
