THE RUINS OF DETROIT
The Ruins of Detroit ($80) takes you on a tour of the city’s neglected buildings. Buildings which have become monuments to its fall from grace.
Right up until the 60’s Detroit was one of the most important cities in America. Motown was a thriving hub of industry. It had a population of 2 million and a skyline impressive enough to rival that of any other U.S city.
Its landmark buildings paid homage to the vitality of Detroit. As well as the success the city enjoyed during the first half of the 20th century.
Now those glorious buildings are in ruins. It looks to all the world as if a bomb dropped in the middle of Motor City.
This book is part of ‘Detroit’s Beautiful, Horrible Decline’. A series of weekly photo bulletins for Time magazine. The photographers have revealed to a shocked America the graphic state of decay of this once great city.
