Written by Lee King

Germany is fame for beer, France has it wonderful wines and America is widely known as the land of cocktails. The whole cocktail culture that spawned several movies in the 1980’s is right back in vogue and bartenders across the county are jugging their shakers around and, thanks to artisan, homemade and local ingredients creating new and exciting drinks that consists of many complex layers of color and flavor. The American Cocktail ($14) comes courtesy of the editors of Imbibe Magazine and there are over 100 recipes here consisting of 50 favorites, classics with a modern twist and some brand new concoctions. It’s time to dig out that shaker and make some shakes.
